Rawhide by Wade Radford (2023)
Taken from the Zine (RawHide) (23′)
If skin is pared you can reveal,
My everything that you can steal,
You aim to explore, decorticate,
Use my secrets then castrate,
We are animals, both ferocious,
Species by nature so atrocious,
You seem to take it in your stride,
That I am no more than mere Rawhide,
You lacerate to bleed my truth,
Ravage me with sunken tooth,
You challenged me, a firm garrotte,
Upon a bed that’s firm and hot,
They are animals, all competitive,
The human condition so repetitive,
You smile, you plan; seem to glide,
But use me up like cheap rawhide,
You start off gentle, a simple incision,
Was it nature or a confirmed decision,
Then you embrace, you lacerate,
Then poke, and push, and fuck, gyrate,
It’s alright you think, and so you take,
Keep the bone that you don’t break,
Dog eat dog, thus you bestride,
Your little bit of new rawhide,
It’s the animal within,
Yet I can’t win,
Hungrily hawk-eyed,
I’m rawhide.
