In 2014, I released my debut short film, BOYS ON 8 TAPE (2014), which featured two actors filming each other on a home video 8mm camera. The defining message was that two people can be in love under the most traumatising of mental health conditions. Limited copies can be obtained by clicking here for this year’s anniversary edition of this LOST short.
To celebrate, I am well into production on ‘Poetry on 8 Tape’, another 8mm film that explores ‘time’. As part of my collection of the ‘North East tapes’, I have been filming across Teesside, enlisting friends, and collaborators to make up the miniature stories contained within the film. A poetic rambling that takes you into the tiny living rooms of its subjects, across the York Moors, and through the dark, sign-lit streets of Middlesborough, and the Transporter bridge; ‘Poetry on 8 Tape’ is a return to my short, solo debut films on 8mm.
Coming 2025!
