Hi,
I’ve been absolutely blown away by the response to the three screenings of ‘THE BUSBY & ME’ – coming to North Yorkshire! I hear the Thirsk premiere date has only ten tickets left, which is just incredible! If you’d like to snag those last tickets – do so here! Also, LAND OF IRON, in Skinningrove still has some tickets for our more intimate events there. Tickets here.
It’s difficult to find the words to say how surprised I am by all this – I imagine my seventeen year old self back then wouldn’t have believed it either. Moral of the story, never stop doing what you’re doing in case one day it holds some nostalgia or relevance. When I found the original 8 tapes earlier last year after the release of my book, I just knew I had to do a documentary – to complete the one I attempted two decades ago! When I first penned the Busby book, I thought this was all I had, a few screenshots and photos of a ‘lost film’ – I can’t tell you how great it is that the film isn’t lost anymore!
Returning to Thirsk to film again in October was amazing – ‘The Chair’ and I back on screen together, reunited! Filming down at Kirby Wiske, and of course a visit again to the Inn, even if this time it was melancholic.
I’m looking forward to seeing everybody who is taking the time to come out and see the film, it is of course my intention that you enjoy it. We have a giveaway on the evening, a Q&A which you are invited to ask me some questions (if you want), and a whole table of brand new merch which is strictly limited edition for these events.
The Ritz Cinema alone is something I can’t wait to see, not only do we get the distinct pleasure of playing this film in its hometown, but also the pleasure of how beautiful the theatre is.
See you all on Feb 2nd, 6th and 7th at Ritz and Land of Iron.
Wade
